Too Little Too Late (Max)

Max nodded and went to the kitchen cabinet that he was using for the dog's medicine. He grabbed Shooter's medicine and a piece of cheese. He put the medicine in a slice of cheese and went back to shooter. He gave shooter his medicine. Miley whimpered sadly and gently licked James's cheek

Shooter always took his medicine in cheese. He ate the cheese and lay there waiting for the pain to go away. He knew once the medication set in he'd fall into a deep sleep for an hour or more. James petted Miley and knew she was worried about Shooter. "Miley, Shooter's going to be okay," he said. He wanted to make her feel better.

Miley gently licked James's cheek again and the puppies woke up. The puppies went to James. Max looked at Miley and James. Miley looked at Shooter and whimpered

James giggled. "I love my Miley," he said. He petted each of the puppies. He loved them too and Shooter. He didn't want any of them to go away. Shooter soon fell into a light sleep.

The puppies wanted to play with James and Miley gently wagged her tail

"Daddy, where's the ball?" he asked. He wanted to roll it across the room for the puppies to chase. He moved and gently kissed Miley's nose.

Max went and picked up the ball. He handed the ball to his son and the puppies wagged their small tails. Miley rested her head and kepted on eye on the puppies and James

James rolled the ball across the room. He watched the puppies while he moved to lean against Miley. He looked over at Shooter who was twitching and moving in his sleep. "Daddy, is Shooter okay?" he asked. Shooter whimpered and his body moved in ways that made him whimper.

Max went to Shooter's side. "I don't know James." he said worridly. The puppies began to play with the ball. Miley looked at Shooter and whimpered softly.

James looked at Miley and moved away. "Miley go to Shooter," he said. He wanted her to be with Shooter right now. Shooter whimpered in pain again and his eyes opened. He wasn't doing so good.

Miley gently licked James and got up. She went to Shooter and laid down in front of him. She whimpered sadly telling him that she didn't want to lose him

Shooter looked at Miley and whimpered in pain. He moved and pressed his nose against hers. He was telling her he wasn't going anywhere. James smiled and got up and walked to his dad. "I'm hungry, daddy," he said.

Max nodded and picked up his son. "Lets go have something to eat." he said. Miley nuzzled her face closer to his

Shooter moved and licked Miley's muzzle. James smiled and knew what he wanted. "Can we have some pasta?" he asked. He was able to eat solid food as long it was cut into tiny pieces for him.

Max nodded and went to the kitchen. He put James in his stool and went to the stove. He grabbed a pot and filled it up with water. He put the pot on the stove and turned it on. He grabbed the spagetti and put it to the side. He waited for the water to boil.

"Dad, Can I feed Miley and Shooter while you make the pasta?" he asked. He wanted to feed his dog and Shooter. Shooter moved and slowly got up. He hadn't been eating and hearing the word food made him feel sick. He slowly walked to the dog bed and laid down in it before falling asleep.

Miley slowly got up and went to the kitchen. Max nodded

James got off his stool and filled Miley's food dish. He then filled Shooter's with food too. He smiled at Miley but saw Shooter laying in the dog bed asleep. "Daddy, why doesn't Shooter want to eat his food," he asked.

Max had put the pasta in the pot and looked at James. "lets let him rest." he said. Miley started to eat

"Okay," he said. He wanted to go ride Bear with his dad tomorrow. "Dad, can we go see the horses tomorrow? I want to try riding Bear," he said.

Max smiled and nodded. "Bear would like that." he said refering to his chestnut quarter horse stallion.

"I like riding Marley but I wanted to ride Bear. Mom probably won't aprove of that though," he said. He smiled a little. His little tummy growled slightly. Shooter's tummy growled but he ignored it not sure if he could keep his food down.

Max finished the pasta and put some in a bowl. He put some for him in a bowl. He cut up the pasta for James and grabbed a pastic fork. He carried the bowl and fork to James. He set it down in front of him. Miley finished eating and went to Shooter.

James picked up up the plastic fork and started eating. He swallowed after making sure to chew everything in his mouth. "Dad, what if that wolf comes back when Miley's outside and Shooter tries to stop him again," he asked.

Max looked at Miley and Shooter. He was glade that he put a lock on the doggy door. "I'll go lock the doggy door." He said and went to the back door
